What's in a name- Elish Eisenberg

Elish Eisenberg ... (follow the links in blue)

To clarify some confusion out there: follow the links
1- Elish's real name is Eliyahu Shalom. Eliyahu is his deceased great-grandfather . Shalom is named for Chavi's Uncle Izzy's father, whom she was very close to. There is now another Shalom cousin, ken yirbu. Elish's name sake was also known as Elish: a Yiddish was of saying Elias, which is Greek for Elijah. Elish's English name is slightly diferent than his Hebrew name

2- It is Elish, not Elisha as was reported in the
Young Israel announcements.

3 - It is Eliyahu Shalom not Eliyahu Shaul as was annouced at the "kriyas shem" by Uncle Stevie. ( I mumbled the name, next time I will write it down.) Rabbi Krohn fixed the error at the mishibeirach.

4- Elish is pronounced like "Smellish" not eleesh. I wonder how his friends in Israel will pronounce it?

I was bored today at work and tried to find something interesting about Elish.

Elish is an Australian gilrs name.

Elish is also an Irish girls name meaning "consecrated to G-d. I guess this goes with his red hair and fair complexion.

There is an author named Dan Elish.

If anyone else comes across something interesting, let us know

I thought Elizabeth comes from the name Elisheva, the Biblical brother of Aaron. The name Elisheva has the name of G-d, Eli- my G-d, and sheva which implies an oath. A possible translation could be, I take an oath to my G-d.

Hey Shevy, what do you think? Shed some light on your "name"
