Leba swimming in Rockport Harbor

Today we woke up, exhuasted after getting back at 1:00 from the drive-in last night. We cleaned up the lake house and made our way out of CT to Massachusets. We went to the Garden in the woods. Nice place, helping us commune with Nature everyday of our vacation. From there we made our way to Gloucester, Massachusets. The town is famous for being the setting of the Movie, the Perfect Storm with George Clooney. It is a fishing villiage. WE drove around the harbor and to the surrounding harbors. At Rockport there was a house that has newspaper, aptly called the Paper House. it was very cool. I found a local girl who was walking her dog, I asked her where is a good place we can take Leba to swim. She directed us to a wharf. It was an alley along the harbor where local fisherman prepare their catch for sale. It smelled so bad. Anyway we went off to the side along the rocky New England Coast and Leba swam. By the end she was so tired she could barely walk. THAT IS A HAPPY DOG! She was even smiled. We drove up the coast, stopping in New Hampshire to fill up with gas and buy cheap booze. At 7:30 we arrived at our motel.

quick vavation update

Sorry for the lack of pictures, dial-up stinks!

Sunday- woke up late went to Dinosaur State Park. A very cool exhibit in the Connecticut River Valley where 35 yeas ago while digging they uncovered footprints of dinosaur traffic. Part of the original bedrock is on display. There is an area where one can cast their own print with plaster of paris. After the museum we did around 3 mils of nature trails.

We next went to a Barnes and Noble for Starbucks and reading their travel books about Maine. Spent about an hour and bought the one we like the most.

We came home, packed up and went to a Drive-In movie about an hour away.

Today we are going through Massachusets to the coast on our way to Kennebunk.

If anyone has reccomendations for what to do in Maine, now is the time.

We are off to New England. The highlight of this trip will be going to Maine for 3 days. Our inspiration for this trip was our new friend Sara's description of Maine with her dog. (see the posts in the archive, great reading)

We started out are trip by going shopping at our favorite super market in Monsey. We were able to get take out and packaged foods for the whole trip. We then left for Connecticut where we are staying at our friends lake house. We arrived at 4:00 AM. We got hopelessly lost and were driving around the house but not finding it for an hour and a half. It could have been a huge fight between Chavi and me of who screwed up more by getting lost, but we were so tired, we didnt care. Today we went to Gillette Castle. This actor from the turn of the Century built a castle overlooking the Connecticut River. Nice place to look around with ample hiking trails. Shabbat Shalom to all.

There are a few pics but the internet here is super slow and I cant upload, look for it here soon

Special Bath Edition

Bath time is always so much fun. Here are some new pictures from yesterdays bath.

Elish just picked up the rubber ducky and put it in his mouth and it worked just as good as a pacifier. I placed the other duck strategically.

In addition to all the other things our baby can do, he sat up all by himself, smiled and then spat up on the chair. We didn't take that photo. He sure is cute !

No Allergies for Elish

There's an expression that says 'whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.' I hope this is true. With our parenting skills, Elish will be the strongest adult imaginable. Many people warned us about keeping a dog around, even one as well behaved (sic) as Leba, with a new baby.

We heard that babies exposed to allergins early in life have less as they grow up. (more info about that here)

Elish received his first exposure to dogs when he was 2 days old when Leba sniffed the little baby and promptly sat down wagging her tail and smiling. (yes dogs do that) This is the position she assumes (sit/stay) when I am holding one of her toys to throw in a game of fetch. She sat there waiting for the new toy we brought home for the hospital to be given to her. She learned very quickly that he is our chew toy, and she protects Elish everynight, sleeping right by his crib. One of our main inspirations for getting a dog was from Jordan, the famous Bogner wunder dog. After 2 years of Chavi adamantly refusing to get a dog, Jordan licked her and the rest is herstory. (she can tell it in another post, [punishment shout-out to Swidlers] )

How to give Leba a treat

On the right side of the page there is a cute java application.

To play, you click on the box of treats and you will get a bone. As you move it around the dog follows it. Click again and the dog eats the treat. Have fun. See if you can get leba to jump for her treat.
